Mobile Phone Manufacturing in India: In the last few years, the trend of using smartphones, internet and working online has spread rapidly all over the world. Its effect has also been seen in India, due to which the demand for smartphones has increased rapidly in a country like India with the second largest population in the world. Perhaps, this is the reason why mobile phone manufacturing value in India has increased 21 times in the last ten years.
Tremendous increase in mobile phone production
The industry body ICEA i.e. India Cellular and Electronics Association issued a statement saying that in the last ten years, the manufacturing value of mobile phones in India has increased 21 times to Rs 4.1 lakh crore. ICEA further said in its statement that the government’s policies like PLI have done a great job in attracting global companies towards local production, due to which the price of mobile manufacturing has increased so much.
Apart from this, ICEA said in its statement that now 97% of the total demand for smartphones in India is produced in India only. Apart from this, 30 percent of the total production in India will be exported during the current financial year i.e. 2023-24. According to this report, the total value of 30 percent of mobile phones exported from India this year could be around Rs 1,20,000 crore, whereas in 2014-15 this figure was only Rs 1,556 crore. This means that the value of mobile phones exported from India may increase by about 7,500% in the last ten years.

Union Minister Anurag Thakur, while writing a post on According to the records released by ICEA, the value of mobile phone production has reached Rs 20 lakh crore in the last 10 years and 97% of the mobile phones sold in India are made in India.

ICEA said that in 2014-15, a total of Rs 18,900 crore worth of mobile phones were produced in India, whereas now in 2023-24 this figure has reached Rs 4,10,000 crore. That is, there has been an increase of about 2000% in this case.
